Recipejar
Welcome to my my page about my recipe organizer project!
Demonstrated Competencies
- Java, Java, Java, and more Java.
- Also, make, NetBeans, and OOP concepts.
Recipejar is a recipe organizer application I wrote in Java many years ago. It’s a little more than what it sounds. It actually constructs and manages a web-site structure, with recipes maintained as html files, and listed as hyperlinks in an index html page.
Its name is a combination of ideas: Recipes, because it’s a recipe organizer, and jar, because you store things in jars and because as a Java project the executable is a .jar
file.
I also took inspiration from Arachnophilia which is a wonderfully esoteric text editor I discovered when I was younger. If you have some time, and would like to explore one of the quirkier places on the internet, I would highly encourage you to check it out. There are quite probably better text editors, but if you are an aficianado, I assure you, you haven’t seen everything until you’ve seen Arachnophilia.
I still have the last stable binary available, but the source code for it was lost. I am currently in the process of re-constructing it from old data that I was able to salvage.
My goal is to simply get it back into working condition, for posterity.
Intended primarily for my own personal use. I regrettably blew it all out of porportion. Trust me, when I say that no hobby is worth more than time spent with the ones you love.
You can find the latest working executable here: Recipjar 5.4 The development repository is here: Recipejar on Github
